Sgt. Carl Gillerson "Pluck" Paige Rudrow

We celebrate the life and memory of Sgt. Carl Gillerson "Pluck" Paige Rudrow whose death occurred Friday, July 20, 2020  in Savannah, GA.

Carl Gillerson Paige Rudrow, 76, passed away on Monday, July 20, 2020 at his home in Savannah,

Carl was born April 2, 1944, in Savannah, Georgia, to Helen Rachel Paige. Carl was the first born
grandson of George Paige Sr. and Diannah Holmes Paige who raised him and he affectionately called
mama. He attended Alfred Ely Beach High School where he played football, ran track. Carl joined the
boxing club at the Frank Callen Boys & Girls Club and flourished as one of the top boxers on his team. In
1962 Carl enlisted into the United States Army where he worked as an Engineer/ Airborne Ranger and
Jungle expert. Carl earned the title of expert shooter in the army as well as won the Golden Gloves for
boxing in his weight class. While overseas, stationed in Germany, he coached high school football for his
unit and under his coaching he won over 120 games within the ten year span. Carl completed 3 tours of
service in the Vietnam War and ended his military career receiving an honorable discharge in 1973 at
Fort Belvoir in Fairfax County, Virginia. Carl later moved to Washington, DC and started working as a
counselor for abused and neglected children.

Carl was preceded in death by his longtime companion Regina Perry in December of 2008, mother Helen
Rudrow in May of 2012, his son Calvin Garrett Sr. in August of 2005, as well as his sisters Deborah
Rudrow Barrett in June of 1992 and Sharon Rudrow Long in November of 1985. He leaves behind 11
children, Ronald Rudrow, Carl Rudrow, Lytonia Rudrow, Charles Rudrow, Latisha Moore, Carl-Gee Perry,
Lucas Moore, Twins born during his time stationed in Germany and two adopted daughters Cecil
Rudrow and Latanya Moore also two nephews he adored and treated like his own children Howard
Barrett and Terry Barrett. Carl also leaves behind a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, cousins,
nieces and nephews.

Public viewing will be held 4-6 p.m. Thursday, August 6, 2020 in the Chapel 124 W. Park Ave. Savannah, GA 

Graveside service will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 7, 2020 at Woodville Cemetery Roberts St. Savannah, GA
