Born Susie Bell Lee on June 19, 1953 was the first born of Minnie Bell Lee and Samuel Lee. She is preceded in death by her paternal parents, brother, Bernard Lee, and a grandmother who she loved and adored who raised her name Slyia Brown.
She was raised in Connor’s Baptist Church where she served as an usher. She attended the Chatham County School System and graduated from Alfred E. Beach High School. She embraced being educated in her career of study nursing in New Jersey. She had a wonderful career in Nursing and retired from S. Joseph Hospital System.
Through her tender years, Susie grew in Christ and became a Deaconess and served in Thankful Baptist Church along with her spouse. Later, she was respected Deaconess whom served in Christ Memorial Baptist Church and Bryan Neck Baptist Church. Susie was a warm and loving person who favorite passage was in Philippians 4. She was a great wife, nurse, mother and friend.
Through the years, she grew under the leadership of Pastor Larry and Gwendolyn Broxton. She also had a life long friendship with her childhood friend Henrietta B. Lovett and Joseph Lovett who she just adored.
Susie Harris is a person of great integrity who loved her profession. She loved her girls. She was a person of love and loyalty. She is a woman who served the community and loved the Lord. She was a great treasure to all who had an opportunity to learn from her. Susie Harris treasured all of her long standing friendships and family.
In the years of 1975, she married a Master Barber, Jacob Harris. The results of their union came Latrelle J. Harris, Latera P. Harris-Jackson, and Lashay Harris.
On July 3, 2021, she entered into arms of God and found rest from labor on earth.
She is survived by children, two grandchildren, Christopher (CJ) and Jeremiah with whom she thought, loved and cherished as much as her girls. She also leaves to cherish her memories a host of family and friends.
Public viewing will be held 1:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., Friday, July 9, 2021 in the Chapel of Campbell & Sons Funeral Home, 124 W. Park Ave., Savannah, GA. 31401. Graveside services will be held 12 noon, Saturday, July 10, 2021 at Oak Grove Cemetery, 52nd Street & Skidaway Road.
