Ms. Rosella Smith Watson was one of 5 children belongs to Mr. Johnny Smith and Mrs. Gladys Groover Smith (both deceased) in Savannah Georgia. Siblings James. T. Smith, Charlesetta Smith LaCount, Juanita Handshaw and Willie Handshaw preceded her in death as well. After the demise of their mother, Rosella and Charlesetta were reared by their brother and sister-in-law, James T. and Annie B. Smith until they finished school and moved into their first apartment together.
Rosella attended the Savannah Public Schools and graduated from Sophronia Tompkins High School in 1960. After graduation she sent to work for The Weitz Family at Friedman’s Art Store and there she retired.
Ms. Watson was reared in the Christian faith and belonged to Abyssinia Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. R. L. Byrd. Later she joined Mt. Bethel Holiness Church under the leadership of Bishop Deloach.
On Monday, September 6, 2021, Rosella Smith Watson entered into eternal rest.
Affectionately called “Rose” will be missed by many love ones and friends. Her memories will be especially cherished by Ms. Annie B. Smith, Ms. Barbara A. Smith, Minister Carolyn S. Warren, Mr. Gerald Handshaw, Mr. Michael Handshaw, Ms. Felicia M. Maynor and Mr. Patrick A. Maynor
Public viewing will be held 1:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m., Sunday, September 12, 2021 in the chapel of Campbell & Sons Funeral Home, 124 West Park Ave., Savannah, GA. 31401. Graveside services will be held Monday, September 13, 2021 at Lincoln Memorial Cemetery, Hunter Army Airfield Base, Savannah, GA. 31409.
