Dorothy “Marie” Jackson Williams was born in Atlantic City, New Jersey on May 27, 1942 to the late William and Willie Mae Thaxton.
She was a beloved mother, grand-mother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother who was adored by all that met her. She was a loving spirit that was well respected by so many for the lives she touched. She truly never met a stranger and made everyone feel welcomed in her presence! Her kind, warm, and giving spirit is what she will forever be remembered for.
Marie, whom she was so affectionately known as, moved to Savannah as a preteen with her family. She married Harold W. Jackson, Sr. and raised a family of her own. She leaves to cherish her memory: Three siblings – Barbara Washington, Lamont Pack and Mitchell Thaxton; A cousin that was like a sister– Delores Jackson; Six children – Harriet Harris (J.W.), Wanda Butler (Michael), Donald Jackson, Harold Jackson, Jr. (Geraldine), Michael Jackson, Sr., and Viola White; fifteen grandchildren – LaBosha Seabrook, Toriano Jackson (Anna), Andre’ Jackson, D’Andrienne McDowell (Kelvin), Yashica Jackson, Jamael Singleton (Regina), Chinikqua Beard (Clarence), Tanika Baker (Maurice), Ashlee Parker (Michael), Omar Jackson, Donika Jackson, Michael Jackson, Jr., Amari Wilson, Alexis Jackson, and Jermaine Christie II; thirty-seven great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; in addition to a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
On Thursday, September 30, 2021, she was summoned to her heavenly home for eternal rest. The surrounding angels of her parents, William and Willie Mae; her siblings, Elizabeth, Thomas, and Ernest Thaxton; her daughters Gwendolyn “Cookie” Jackson-Washington and Elnora Jackson waited to escort her home.
Public viewing will be held 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., Friday, October 8, 2021 in the chapel of Campbell & Sons Funeral Home, 124 West Park Ave., Savannah, GA. 31401. Funeral services will be held 12 noon, Saturday, October 9, 2021 at Jesus First The Community Church, 2202 US Hwy 80 West, Garden City, Ga. 31408. Interment ~ Private Burial.
