Mr. Timothy Tyrone Riley Sr entered into eternal rest on Wednesday night, July 7, 2021 at his home in the presence of his loving family around his bedside. He was the youngest of six siblings whose parents were the late Mr. Robert Edward Patterson and Mrs. Lucille Riley Patterson.
Mr. Timothy Tyrone Riley was a native of Savannah Georgia. At an early age he accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior under the Pastoral care of the late Reverend Willie Williams Whitehead at the Conners Temple Missionary Baptist Church Savannah Georgia.
Timothy Tyrone Riley Sr. was educated at Florence Elementary School and was a graduate of Richard Arnold High School. He matriculated to Savannah State College, now a University, where he studied Civil Engineering. Timothy Tyrone Riley Sr. served in the United States Air Force and upon retiring he was employed with Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation. When the opportunity was presented, Timothy was employed by the United States Post Office, where he served for 40 years until retirement. Most Notable mention Timothy received a Commemorative Plaque of merit that publicly recognized him for perfect attendance, he never took a day off except for to vacation.
His work ethics were incredible. He left a legacy for his children and young people to follow. Mr. Timothy Tyrone Riley Sr. was joined in Holy Matrimony to his beautiful bride Mrs. Jeanette Washington Riley for 45 years. Together they reared eleven children. He was blessed to counsel, instruct, and encourage young people to be productive. Timothy was affectionately known as Smiling Riley, because whenever he greeted you it was with a smile and a joke.
He is famously known for his conversations throughout Savannah as he shared his wisdom. He was a man who believed in charity and whenever he was asked to help, regardless of the need, he was gracious to help and found it difficult to say no. If I can help somebody along the way was Timothy, he was a family man who cherished his wife, loved his children, and more importantly was a Godly man.
Timothy was preceded in death by a brother Richard Patterson and a son Patrick D. Capers.
He leaves to cherish his memories his love, Mrs Jeanette Washington Riley; Sons, Jester E, Samuel W, Thomas E (Tameka) Jose C (Clara) Michael R, and Timothy T. Jr., Daughters, Beverlee (Orlano) Trotter, Melissa Towns, Iema S, Courtney J; Brother, Johnnie (Nita) Hatton; Sisters, Melvina Woodruff of South Carolina, Mrs. Gloria Washington of California and Mrs, Betty Cunningham of New York; Sisters in Love, Florrie Scriven, Alberta Milton, Edna Maxwell, Patricia Washington of Atlanta, Brenda (Reginald) Wright of Charlotte and Beverly Jones, Brothers in Love, Jimmie (JoAnn) Williams, Johnny Washington and Melvin (Sue) Washington
Timothy fought a good fight, and finished his course, He kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for him a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give and not to me only, but unto all that believe.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 17, 2021 at First Nazareth Missionary Baptist Church, 1023 West 44th Street, Savannah, GA. 31405. Mr. Riley will lie in state 9:00 a.m. til the hour of service.
