Reflection of Life
Roosevelt Riley Sr., son of the late Ella Graham and Tom Riley Sr., was born May 25, 1935, in Beaufort County. He was educated over the years by the Beaufort County school system.
Roosevelt was united in Holy Matrimony to Lillian White-Riley for 68 years. To this union 10 children were born with one Rosetta Hughes preceding his death.
In 1958, he moved to Danbury, CT where he worked for Brown Engineer, which lead to him landing a supervisor position with Sheppard’s Warehouse in Bethel, CT until he retired with the company in 1997. He was a loyal member of New Hope Baptist Church in Danbury, CT.
In 1997 he moved back to Hardeeville, SC where he was a faithful member at The Temple of Glory Community Church in Savannah, GA. Roosevelt took a stand for what he believed in and stood by it. He was loved by his family dearly, and was always there to encourage, support, and motivate his children as well as others who came across his path. He was devoted to all of his grandchildren and was an active participant in their lives and accomplishments.
He departed his life early Friday morning on September 3, 2021 surrounded by his family at home.
Roosevelt leaves to cherish his memories; a loving and devoted wife Lillian Riley, 6 sons: Roosevelt Riley Jr (Latonya) of Frisco, TX, Anthony J Riley and Zachary S Riley both of Danbury, CT, Kevin C Riley of Hardeeville, Eric T Riley (Claudia) of Naugatuck, CT, and Rodney Riley Sr. of Fort Worth, TX, 3 daughters: Sheral A Tillery (James) of Waterbury, CT, Deanne C Hinkle of Atlanta, GA, and Tina R Wilson (Phillip) of Bluffton, SC. 1 brother Tom Riley Jr and sister Carrie Bell Knighton both of Hardeeville, SC, 1 sister in law Katie Mae Holmes of Danbury, CT, 1 brother in law Calvin Johnson Sr (Beverly) of Savannah, GA, 43 Grandchildren, 36 Great Grandchildren, 1 Great Great Grandchild, a host of nieces/nephews, best friend Thomas Moffett Jr of Fitzgerald, GA, and friends.
Public viewing will be held 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., Thursday, September 9, 2021 in the chapel of Campbell & Sons Funeral Home, 124 West Park Ave., Savannah, GA. 31401. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m., Friday, September 10, 2021 at The Temple of Glory Community Church, 1105 Stiles Ave., Savannah, GA. 31415. Interment ~ Magnolia Memorial Gardens, 5532 Silk Hope Road, Savannah, GA. 31405.
