Joe Russell Shell fell asleep in death on November 24, 2021. He was born on September 4, 1945 to Morris (Mordie) and Eliza (Liza) Shell. He was the oldest of five and his surviving siblings are Morris Shell Jr. (Beverly), Sandra Elizabeth Shell, Susie Shell King, and Sharon Shell Mixon (Tyrone). He was a graduate of Tompkins High School class of 1963.
As a teenager he enjoyed playing the saxophone and assembling model cars. He began his spiritual career at the early age of 13 after being baptized as a Jehovah’s Witness on June 24, 1958. Upon graduating from high school, he became a fulltime pioneer and moved to Manchester, Georgia where there was a great need for volunteer ministers.
He continued to serve and volunteer his time, energy, and finances toward assisting others to an “accurate knowledge” of Bible truths. He is survived by his wife Dannette, his children: Jason Shell, Michael Shell, and Lydia Shell; and his grandchildren: Cassie, Maxwell, Alexandria, Devin, Jordan, and Jade.
