Jimi Clarence Brown was born in Savannah, GA on May 10, 1978, to James and Judy Brown.
He attended Savannah-Chatham County Public School System, graduating from Savannah High School in 1996. He received several athletic awards while playing football in high school including Chic-fil-A Player of the Week Award in 1995. After high school, he attended post-secondary school formally known as Savannah State College.
At an early age, he was a boy scout and he played football for a Savannah city league called the Westside Whippers. He went on to become employed by Great Dane and his latest employment with ILA Local 1414 for 20 years.
He was a member of New Jerusalem N.O.G.F.M. He enjoyed being around his family and friends. To his family, he was known for making them laugh by coming up with jokes, imitating others and characters from movies and T.V. shows. Some of his favorite movies were Forrest Gump and Folks. He enjoyed playing cards with his family and long-time card partner, Mony Tanksley. Jim was always a giving person, if there was anything you need, he was willing to lend a helping hand. A was a gentle giant with an infectious smile. Jimi will be truly missed by so many.
On December 30, 2021, he entered into eternal rest. He was proceeded in death by his (paternal grandparents) Clarence and Inez Brown, (maternal grandparents) Oscar Sr and Josephine Lanier, his father Curtis Mincey Jr., and his uncle Deacon Cecil (Deacon Unc) Lanier.
He leaves to cherish his memories, his loving mother Judy L. Mincey, his dad, James C. Brown, his son Kody J. Brown, (2) sisters- Dr. Chivonda R. Brown-Coleman (Ronald)-Little Rock, AR, Ja’Nae Brown (Savannah, GA), (2) brothers- Terrell Swan (Shannon)-Savannah, GA, Jerrod Brown (Atlanta, GA), several nieces and nephews: a special niece, Destani Daise, and a special nephew, Kam’Ron Coleman. (4) Aunts- W.M. Duncan, Sarah Tanksley, Diane Hayward, Francis Mincey. (3) Uncles- Oscar Lanier Jr (Bernetta), Randy Mincey, and Quinton Mincey. God-parents Deacon Jerome Roberson and Minister Debra Roberson, God-brothers (3) three-Vincent Truell, VerSean Truell, and Jerome Roberson, Jr. Former wife/friend Latrice Brown and Goddaughter-Rakirrea Bryant. A host of family and friends.
Public viewing will be held 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 5, 2022 in the Chapel of Campbell & Sons Funeral Home, 124 West Park Avenue, Savannah, GA. 31401. Graveside services will be held 12 noon, Thursday, January 6, 2022 at Oak Grove Cemetery, 52nd Street & Skidaway Road, Savannah, GA. 31404.
