Mr. Federico “Rico” Alberto Foster, son of the late Fernando Alberto Foster, Marcia Foster, and Dr. Willis Blake, was born January 4, 1981 in Savannah, Georgia. He was educated within the Savannah Chatham County Public Schools district. In 1999 he graduated from Savannah High School. At an early age he became a faithful member of The Land of Rest Deliverance Ministries. As a member, he served faithfully as an Ordained Deacon and Trustee.

Mr. Foster followed his dream of imparting his love for music into the younger generation by returning to Savannah Chatham County Public Schools as a choral director and percussion instructor at Alfred E. Beach High School for two years. In 2016 he was passed the baton and named band director for The School of Liberal Studies at Savannah High School, where he served for six years. During his educational career, he was named WTOC’s Top Teacher in 2019.

Federico A. Foster had a passion and love for music that he shared with all of his students at various schools and within the community. Because of his musical gifts and talents, he was offered the opportunity to work with the Savannah Music Festival Jazz Academy as trombone instructor.

Federico is a former member of Florida A&M University “Marching 100,” and The Coastal Empire Sound Explosion band of Savannah State University. As a member of Savannah State’s band, he was affectionately known as “Rico Suave.” Fernando was known as “Spanish Fly,” and Derrick was known as “Bola.” The three together were known as, “The Bola Brothers.” He was a member of the Kappa Kappa Psi National Honorary Band Fraternity Incorporated, Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, the National Association for Music Educators (NAfME), and endorsed by the Vic Firth Educational Team.

Mr. Foster was a Music Education Ph.D. student at Auburn University and received degrees from Savannah State University, Armstrong Atlantic State University, and Fielding Graduate University. He remained active throughout Savannah as a brass/percussion consultant and clinician.
