Donald Huron Gray was born in Augusta, Georgia on December 26, 1924 to William Hamp Gray and Louise Watts Gray. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Mary Ann, his beloved aunt, Lizzie, sisters, Daisy and Ruth, daughters, Donnette and Sheila, and stepmother, Irene Gray Woods. Mr. Gray passed away on Saturday, July 10, 2021.
Mr. Gray served his country in World War II where he was one of the troops who landed on Normandy Beach on D Day. He was a Brick mason for over 50 years. He also worked a number of years at Krispy Kreme where he became very close to a young man, Christopher (Sandy) Reed, who later became his son from another mother. He had a passion for raising hogs. He was a music aficionado when it came to music.
He loved his family and enjoyed having them visit and spending time with them
Mr. Gray is survived by his sister, Juanita Lemon; daughters, Barbara (Willie) Baker, Pamela Gray, Kimberly (Clint) Middleton; sons, Michael Mobley, Donald Gray, Jr., Donald Hendrix and William (Lula Joann) Jerome; nephews, John Gray and Donald Mitchell; nieces, Thelma Ellison and Lori Riley; brothers-in-law, Leon (Amy) Benton and Willie Jackson; special friend, Helen Parker-Colbert, Vondra Yopp, Helen and Van Lewis, Hercules (Yolanda) Mobley and Stacy Harvey; 27 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, and 19 great-great grandchildren; countless nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was loved and will be sadly missed.

Public viewing will be held 1:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., Friday, July 23, 2021 in the chapel of Campbell & Sons Funeral Home, 124 West Park Ave., Savannah, GA. 31401. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 24, 2021 in the Chapel of Campbell & Sons Funeral Home, 124 West Park Ave., Savannah, GA. 31401. Interment ~ Beaufort National Cemetery, 1601 Boundary Street, Beaufort, SC. 29902.
