We celebrate the life and memory of Mrs. Lucille Sanders whose death occurred Wednesday, September 30, 2020 at Hospice Savannah, Inc.
Lucille Wilson Sanders was born on June 19, 1935, to the late John and Annie Wilson. She was educated in the Chatham County public school system. Lucille accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at First Bryan Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. Richard M. Williams.
In 1959, Lucille relocated to New York, NY, and joined Trinity AME Church in New York City, where she served faithfully until she returned to Savannah in 1990. At Trinity, she was a dedicated member of the Senior Usher Board and Secretary of the Trinity Circle Club.
Upon returning to Savannah, Lucille reunited with First Bryan Baptist Church, where she continued to serve on the Usher Board.
Lucille was married to the late James G. Sanders, and to this union, four children were born.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Antoinette Marie Sanders.
Lucille was employed at AT&T for twenty-six years before retiring.
She leaves to cherish her memory two sons, James(Judy) Sanders of Zionsville, IN and Arnold J. Sanders Sr. of New York City; one daughter Deborah Bryant of Savannah, Ga; five grandchildren, Stacey Rae Sanders of Montgomery Village, MD, Dawnsherrae Bryant of Bethesda, Maryland, Deaunqua Bryant of Daleville, AL, Shanasa Sanders of Deland, FL and Arnold J. Sanders, Jr. of Miami FL; four stepchildren James Thompson of Savannah, Ga; William P. Sanders of Hardeeville, SC and Saundra and David Sanders of Hardeeville, SC; a brother-in-law, Herman Sanders of Hardeeville, SC; and a host of nephews, other family members and friends.
Public viewing will be held 6-8 p.m. Friday, October 9, 2020 at Campbell & Sons Funeral Home 124 W. Park Ave. Savannah, GA
Graveside service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 10, 2020 at Magnolia Memorial Gardens 5530 Silk Hope Rd. Savannah, GA
