We celebrate the life and memory of Mr. Homer Mikell whose death occurred Saturday, January 2, 2020 at Candler Hospital.
Homer was born in Statesboro, GA, March 14, 1934 to the late Homer Mikell, Sr. and Cora West. Homer and Sonya Florence Smalls were united in marriage, September 30, 1991.
He was employed by the Chatham County Board of Education, as a Plumber. Homer filled the needs of many, with the "handy work" that he performed for others. He was a good neighbor and a friend to many.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Emma Mikell and Barbara West, brother, Leroy West, step-daughter, Charlesetta Smalls, sister-in-law, Betty A. Newton and adopted son, Vincent Jarrod Newton.
Homer is survived by his wife of 20 years, Mrs. Sonya Florence Mikell, sister-in-law, Veronica Newton, nephew-in-law, Hakeem Newton, nieces and nephews, James (Yvette) Dalton, Davis (Gloria) Dalton, Ronald (Robin) Mikell, Larry Mikell and Johnnie (Angela) Mitchell, grandnieces and nephews, Marie Mikell, Ronald Mikell, Jr. special neighbors and friends, Naomi Brown and Delores Reynolds, devoted-reliable friend, Isaac Wright.
Public viewing will be held 1-6 p.m. Saturday, January 9, 2021 at Campbell & Sons Funeral Home (124 W. Park Ave. Savannah, GA 31401
