Obituary

Ret. Sgt. Gary Daniel Thomas Sr. a native of Savannah GA, was born to the late Mildred Moore Suggs, and the late George Danny Thomas on February 14th, 1957. Educated in Chatham county public school system and a high school       graduate of Alfred Ely Beach Highschool in 1976. After high school, he then began his life legacy, to include enlisting into the U.S. Army as well as attending the Savannah Technical School. While actively serving, Gary was stationed in many places to include Germany. After returning home to the US, Gary moved to Atlanta GA, where he then went on to attend Atlanta Technical College where he obtained his Associates Degree in Automotive Technology and completed his training in Diesel Mechanics.

During this period of time, he followed his passion to begin his career where he took his knowledge and skills for auto mechanics to work for the Bureau of Motor Transports Services in City of Atlanta. By this time, Gary set forth to start a family of his own in the 80’s where he married Stella Thomas and to this union, he was blessed with one stepson Ibrahim, and two children were born, Brenda and Gary Jr.

Gary was an adventurous person, traveling the world to many places with his family such as Africa, Paris, London and many more. He was all about living his life to the fullest.  A man of many talents received many awards, certifications, and accolades, to include air conditioning, and earned a recognition from the ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) for becoming a medium / heavy truck specialist. Gary’s presence alone has had an outstanding impact with everyone he has ever encountered with. He is an inspiration to all youth, a true treasure to the  family, and a genuine individual in all his friendships.

Gary Thomas, after being Retired from the US Army of 20 years and the City of Atlanta for 30 years, and raising three children, still wanted to add to his accomplishments. Gary went on to become avid carpenter, painter, and craftsman calling himself the “Cutmaster”. Oft reminding us in his words “I AM THE CUTMASTER, I AM THE ONE AND ONLY, IT CANT GET NO BETTER THAN ME, WHEN THEY MADE ME, IM THE CREAM OF THE CROP, THE LAST OF THE LAST, AINT NO MORE OTHER BETTER THAN ME!!!” .

Gary, an affectionate husband, father, grandfather, a kind hearted uncle, cousin, and a loyal friend as well as dog   lover will never be forgotten. Along side with other family members and friends he leaves behind meaningful memories with his stepson Ibrahim, son, Gary Jr., his daughter, Brenda, granddaughter, Symarah, sisters, Sharon, Sonya, niece Sheena, aunt, Catherine, and special cousin, Charisse and ones who have    experienced his light.
