Ethel Mae Gadson Holmes

We celebrate the life and memory of Mrs. Ethel Mae Gadson Holmes  whose death occurred on Saturday, January 18, 2020 at St. Joseph's Hospital.

She was a native of Fleming, GA and attended the public schools of Chatham County. 

Ethel was a faithful member of Community Missionary Baptist Church in Midway, GA where she served as Mother of the Church, Sunday School Teacher and sung in the choir.

She leaves behind her husband, John Holmes, one son, Joseph (Emma) Walls, six daughters, Ida Mae (Bishop Johnnie) Quarterman, Clara Walls, Shelia (John) Paschal, Carolyn Walls, Vivian (David) Williams-Dendy, Irene (Leon) Johnson, two stepdaughters, Nina Mitchell, Marilyn Crenshaw, sisters, Josephine Parker and Rev. Betty Morrison, two brothers, Rev. Archie (Kathleen) Gadson, Rev. Larry (Katherine) Gadson, one aunt, Sadie Mae Hearring, 36 grandchildren, 76 great Grandchildren, seven great great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.   

Funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 25, 2020 at

Community Missionary Baptist Church

13096 Oglethorpe St. - Midway, GA

Interment ~ Cay Creek Cemetery

 Visitation will be held 6-8 p.m. Friday at the church
