On May 29, 2021 God called home another one of his angels, Deacon Jacob Grant Jr. 82, of Richmond Hill, Georgia. He transitioned at home surrounded by his wife and children after a short illness. We mourn his transition but celebrate his life and dedication that he had to his family and friends.

Deacon Jacob Grant Jr. was born in Chatham County, Georgia to the late Jacob Grant, Sr., and late Minnie Gardner.  He was educated in the Savannah, Chatham County Public School system.  He met the love of his life at a basketball game.  They have been married for 61 years.  From this union seven children were born.

At an early age he joined New Ogeechee Church in Burroughs, Georgia and later he joined Bryan Neck Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Pete Broxton; where he served as Deacon, Chairman Deacon, and Deacon Emeritus, Sunday School Superintendent, and an advent Sunday School member.

For years he would plant a garden and distribute some of his crops to the elderly; he had a passion for the elderly.  He was a prominent member of the community of Richmond Hill, where a community center was named after him “Jacob Grant Community Center”.

He was a great husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and father-in-law.  Deacon Grant loved, loved, loved his family.  He taught his children that family is important and to stick together.
