Obituary

We celebrate the life and memory of Comer H. Flynn.

On February the 3rd 2021, the Lord whispered softly and welcomed home Comer Howell Flynn.

 Comer was born on October 14th 1939, in Savannah Georgia to his late parents Joseph and Viola Luten Flynn. He was proceeded in death by his sisters, Annie Mae Flynn and Barbara Barrett and brothers, Joseph Gary Flynn, Roland  Edward Flynn and James Edward Flynn. He was the oldest of 6 children.

Comer was a highly respected educator in the Savannah Chatham County Public School System. He graduated from Alfred E. Beach High School and attended Savannah State College, where he received his Bachelor of Science Degree. He earned additional advanced degrees from Georgia Southern College, Cambridge College and Lincoln Memorial from which he received an Education Specialist Degree.

Over a period of 43 years, students, parents, coworkers, and administrators at several institutions of learning, including Windsor Forest High School, Jenkins High School, and Scott Alternative Center, benefited from his commitment to service. He will be long remembered for his expertise, dedication, sense of humor, generosity, and advocacy of children.

He also worked for ILA 1414 as a longshoreman. He was also a member of the Soignee Socio Civic Club, and the Chatham Retired Educators Association.

Comer  leaves to cherish his memories a devoted wife of 56 years, Betty Flynn his daughter, Comia Flynn Knight, granddaughter, Taylor Flynn Knight. Grandpup, Bailey Flynn, sisters-in-law,  Laura Flynn (Savannah, GA), Betty Flynn (Atlanta, GA), Gladys Walker (Savannah, GA),  and Jan Flynn (Delray Beach, FL), aunts, Marjorie Luten and Doris Luten, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, Godchildren, Nelly Harris and Ronald Tremble, other relatives and friends.

Public viewing 12 Noon Sunday, February 7, 2021 at Speedwell United Methodist, 7259 Skidaway Rd. 

Graveside service 12 noon Monday, February 8, 2021 at Eugenia Cemetery ( Sallie Mood Dr. @ Montgomery Crossroads )
