Charlene R. Williams was born in New York City, the daughter of Leisa D. Thompson (Collier) and Charles Nelson on June 24, 1985. She is the middle child of three. During her early years of childhood,
she was educated by New York City Public School System. Upon completion of high school, she joined the United States Air Force on August 19, 2003. She served in the Air Force for fifteen years; Retiring from duty on August 19, 2018.
On September 19, 2009 she was joined in holy matrimony to Mr. Michael Smaw. Two beautiful daughters were born to this union; Saniyah Smaw and Londyn Smaw Upon repeal of this union, both remained devoted to the happiness of their children.
On February 5, 2018 she wedded Mr. C. Jerome Williams. Charlene lovingly embraced two stepchildren, Amari Roe and DeAndre Williams.
Charlene was a member of Fourth Street Missionary Baptist Church of Fort Mitchell, AL, under the leadership of Pastor Johnny Flakes, III. As member of the church, she served on several ministries. She was also a member of the following organizations: Ruth V. Cobb #105 OES MWPHGCGA, Alston- Kennedy Guild #10, El Paso, TX; Al Faruk Court #94 Oasis of Columbus, Desert of GA; Marie Jones Assembly #85 Order of Golden Circle; and Kappa Epsilon Psi Military Sorority.
On Wednesday, April 7, 2021, Charlene departed this life. She was preceded in death by her grandparents Mr. & Mrs. Arthur and Esther Collier; her mother and father, Leisa Thompson (Collier) and Charles Nelson.
She leaves to cherish her memory; her husband C. Jerome Williams, Two beautiful daughters Saniyah Smaw and Londyn Smaw (New Mexico), two stepchildren; Amari Roe (Fort Mitchell, AL), Deondre Williams (Chicago, IL), one sister, Leisa M. Jackson (Savannah, GA), one brother Charles Collier (New York City), Two brother-in-laws, Eric (Felicia) Williams (Cleveland, OH), Derric (Chalene) Williams (Columbus, OH). A special niece and two nephews, Le'Andria Jackson & Landen Jackson (Savannah, GA), Charles Fernandez (New York City). A host of aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Public Viewing 5-7 p.m. on Friday, April 23, 2021 in the Chapel of Campbell and Sons Funeral Home, 124 W Park Ave. Savannah, GA 31401. Graveside service will be held 12 noon Saturday, April 24, 2021 at Magnolia Memorial Gardens, 5532 Silk Hope Rd. Savannah, GA 31405.
