We celebrate the life and memory of Ms. Solana R. Afolabi Plaines whose death occurred on Tuesday, January 6, 2026 at her residence.

Solana Plaines, born Rosa Lee Manning, was born on April 21, 1938, in Dillon, SC to Walter Manning and Mollie M. Williams, both of whom preceded her in death. She had seven children, three of whom preceded her in death – Willie "Fish" Sparks, Debra "Shobola" Glenn, and Saadiah Afolabi. She is preceded in death by her sister, Mary Wright and brother, Willie B. Manning. She moved to Savannah, GA at a young age and became extremely active in her community. She dedicated her life to social justice and community development.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her brothers: Bobbie (Daisy) Williams of Savannah, GA, Walter Manning Jr. and Brian (Cindy) Manning of Portsmouth, VA; her sisters: Denise Jenkins, Victoria (Lester) Carver and Delores (Vincent) Fuller of Portsmouth, VA; two sons Andre (Consuela) Plaines, Jamel (Vanessa) Plaines, two daughters, Maisha Baker-Williams, all of Savannah, GA and Olubayo (Emmanuel) Uzoma of Nigeria; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends and community members.

Graveside Services will be held on Thursday, January 8, 2026 at 2:30pm at Greenwich Cemetery, 330 Bonaventure Road, Savannah, GA 31404.

Memorial services for Solana R. Plaines will be held on Saturday, January 17, 2026 at 11:00 am, at Starlight Ministries, located at 2417 Louis Mills Blvd, Savannah, Ga 31405.
