Nathaniel
Ivy
Sep 4, 1953 — Jul 11, 2025
Nathaniel Ivy, also known as "Nat" by all who loved and adored him, passed away peacefully in his home in Savannah, Georgia on July 11, 2025. Nathaniel was born on September 4, 1953 in Memphis, Tennessee to the late Jeff and Velma Ivy. Along with his childhood in Memphis, Nathaniel spent his formative years coming of age in the loving countrysides of Mississippi and the peaceful cities of Macon and Savannah, Georgia.
Nathaniel was a graduate of Savannah State University and served honorably in the United States Air Force as an air traffic controller. His military career took him to many states and countries including several years of service overseas at the Ramstein U.S. Air Base in Germany. After his military service, he moved back to Savannah, Georgia and had a successful career in operations with Georgia Pacific's River Mill and as a Union Longshoreman (ILA Local 1414).
In his spare time, Nathaniel was an avid basketball player and coach. He was smart, practical, full of great advice, and full of life. He loved good music, good times, had skills on the BBQ grill, and was quite handy around the house. There were times where he seemed he could do it all. Most importantly, he was a beloved husband, father, brother, son, uncle, friend, and role model.
Nathaniel is survived by his wife, Vanessa Ivy; his children, Janaun (Janine Ivy), Jamarri, and Kennedi; his grandchildren, Cara and Christine; his brothers, Jeffrey and Autrey (Sarita Ivy); his sisters in law, Valerie Heath and Velvet Woodly; brothers-in law, Vernon Haygood, Richard Woodly, George Ransom, and Charles Ransom; his nieces and nephews; his best friend, John Rivers; and many loving family members and friends. He was predeceased by his sister, Sandra.
Nathaniel will be dearly missed. We thank the Lord he was in our lives.
