Charles P. Jenkins was born on March 25, 1949, in Savannah, Georgia, the third of four children born to the late Samuel Jackson Jenkins, affectionately known as "Cream," and Gladys Gartrell Jenkins.

He received his education through the Savannah-Chatham County Public School System and proudly graduated from the esteemed Alfred E. Beach High School, Class of 1966. During his high school years, Charles was a talented drummer in the marching band, where his love for music and school spirit flourished. He also faithfully attended the Seventh-day Adventist Church with his mother, observing the Sabbath each Saturday.

Shortly after graduating from high school, Charles answered the call to serve his country by enlisting in the United States Army. He later became a 100% disabled veteran, a testament to his honorable and dedicated service. As a skilled mechanic, Charles used his knowledge and expertise to repair vehicles for family, friends, and those in need. Following his military service, he worked at Henry's Auto Repair Shop, located just across the street from his childhood home in Savannah. Charles later lived in Augusta, Georgia, before making Warner Robins, Georgia, his home for more than 30 years. It was there that he built lasting friendships and remained until God peacefully called him home on July 5, 2026.

Charles had a lifelong passion for sports and could often be found watching his favorite teams on television. He also enjoyed keeping his mind sharp by working number puzzles in a notebook he always kept close by. One of his favorite daily pastimes was visiting the neighborhood store to purchase his lottery tickets, where he enjoyed talking with friends and sharing stories and laughter. Life's journey brought both joys and challenges. In his later years, Charles was grateful for the opportunity to reconnect with his children. Those precious moments became a source of healing, love, and reconciliation, leaving a lasting legacy of grace and the importance of family.

Charles was preceded in death by his father, Samuel Jackson "Cream" Jenkins; his mother, Gladys Gartrell Jenkins; his brother, Barnett Gartrell Jenkins; his sister, Rhina Marie Gartrell Jenkins Green; his granddaughter, Amber Roberts; and his great granddaughter, Charlie Slaughter

He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife, Felicia Broady Jenkins; his brother, Samuel "Sonny" Jackson Jenkins (Joan); his children, Charles P. Jenkins Jr., Dionne Jenkins-Carlers (Jamie), Barnett G. Jenkins, Tomeka L. Jenkins, Tia Jenkins-Holt (Donald), and Nekya M. Jenkins; his cherished stepson, Duane Broady; his stepdaughter, Janet Arnold; 19 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever treasure the memories they shared with him. Charles will be remembered for his quiet strength, his mechanical talents, his love of sports, his sharp intellect, and his friendly conversations with everyone he met. Though he will be deeply missed, his memory will continue to live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
