Obituary

Madeline Louise Wright, age 77, passed away peacefully at Fort Washington Hospital in Fort Washington, Maryland. She will be deeply missed. Her spirit was gentle, thoughtful, and always encouraging, even in the hardest moments.

From a young age, Madeline faced challenges that would have discouraged many. She lost her hearing at just eight years old and later experienced vision loss in one eye. Yet she never allowed these obstacles to define or limit her. Instead, she developed a remarkable ability to rely on her other senses (her strong sense of smell, her sharp reasoning, and her deep intuition) to navigate the world with grace and independence.

Above all, Madeline was deeply devoted to her family. She leaves behind her children: Leslie Holmes, Stephanie Rivers, and Joseph Wright. She was a proud grandmother to Ciara Washington, Sada' Wright, George Rivers III, and Harrison Rivers, and a loving great-granddaughter to MyAsia Washington. She also leaves behind her siblings as one of nine, along with a large extended family who loved her dearly.

Madeline will be remembered not only for her strength and resilience, but also for her humor and lighthearted spirit. Her legacy lives on in the hands she taught, the hearts she touched, and the family she loved so deeply. Though she is no longer physically here, her spirit remains in every memory, every story, and every piece of love she left behind. She will be forever missed, deeply cherished, and always remembered.
