Lois L.
Mew
Oct 25, 1933 — May 26, 2026
Lois Lorraine Mew was born on October 25, 1933, in Savannah, Georgia, to Ollie and Bessie Mae Mew. She was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved older brothers, Henry and Willie Mew. She attended the public schools of Chatham County. As a teenager, she moved with her family to Delray Beach, Florida, where she later welcomed her only child, Ellen Lorraine Ivy. After working in several restaurants, she fulfilled her dream of entrepreneurship by owning and operating Green's Inn for more than a decade. Following her retirement from the restaurant business, she began a new chapter with the Palm Beach County School District.
In her younger years, Lorraine, as she preferred to be called, enjoyed the rewards of her hard work. She loved driving around town in her Jeep, deep sea fishing from her boat, and welcoming family and friends into her home. Having grown up with brothers, she also enjoyed spirited card games, a lively sense of humor, and a candid manner. She was admired for her elegant style, natural beauty, and down-to-earth spirit.
In her later years, Lorraine especially cherished the close bond she shared with her daughter in Atlanta, Georgia, along with the precious time she spent with her granddaughters and great-granddaughters. Left to cherish her memory are her loving daughter, Ellen Lorraine Ivy; her granddaughters, Elrika Lorraine Richards (Wayne) and Vashina Ivy; her great-granddaughters, Rayna Noelle and Rayven Lorraine Richards; her grandniece, Antonia Allen; her goddaughters, Mable Jean Taylor and Lucrecia Lorraine Straghn; and a host of extended family members and lifelong friends.

Memories Are Golden
They say memories are golden,
Well maybe that's true.
We never wanted memories
We only wanted you.
A million times we needed you;
A million times we cried.
If love alone could have saved you,
You never would have died.
In life we loved you dearly;
In death, we love you still.
In our hearts you hold a place,
No one could ever fill!
Words of Gratitude
The Ivy/Richards family wishes to express our heartfelt gratitude and sincere appreciation for your cards, visits, communications, and expressions of sympathy during this time. We have been touched by the love that has been extended to us.
May God bless and keep each of you.

In Loving Memory of My Beautiful Mother
God saw you getting tired
and a cure was not to be.
So He put His arms around you
and He whispered "Come to Me"
With tearful eyes we watched you.
We watched you fade away.
Although we loved you dearly,
We could not make you stay.
A golden heart stopped beating,
Hard-working hands at rest.
God broke our hearts to prove to us,
He chose to take the best.
It's lonesome here without you
we miss you more each day.
Life doesn't seem the same
since you've gone away.
When days are sad and lonely
and everything goes wrong,
we seem to hear you whisper"
Cheer Up and Carry On"
Each time we see your picture
you seem to smile and say,
"Don't cry, I'm in God's hands,
we'll meet again someday!"
Until we meet again...
