Josie
Middleton
Jun 16, 1940 — Jun 10, 2025
We celebrate the life and memory of Ms. Josie Middleton whose death occurred on Tuesday, June 10, 2025 at her residence.
Josie Mae Green Middleton was born on June 16, 1940, to the late Joe and Ruth Wolfolk, Sr. She was the eldest of eleven siblings.
She was a beloved mother, grandmother, friend, and a woman of unshakeable faith. Josie was a light to all who knew her--gentle in spirit, strong in faith, and rich in love. A faithful servant of God, she believed in the power of prayer and the promises of scripture. Her life was a testimony to the grace of God and the beauty of a heart fully surrendered to Him. Whether through her service to the church, her care for others, or her encouraging words, she reflected the love of Christ in everything she did.
Josie accepted the Lord at an early age, and was a member of Goodwill Baptist Church, where her father was one of the founding members along with the first pastor and another brother. Her mother, Ruth Baker Wolfolk, was one of the original members of the Usher Board, and her father served as the Usher Board president.
Josie was educated in the Savannah-Chatham County Public School District and worked several jobs throughout her life.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Ruth Wolfolk; her husband, Freeman Green, Jr.; two brothers: Earl and Ronald Wolfolk; and four sisters: Elizabeth Wolfolk, Helen W. Virgil, Lucille Wright, and Dolores Wolfolk.
She leaves to cherish her memory two daughters: Venus Harrell (Joe) and Florine Green; two granddaughters: Asia L. Gilchriest and Dominique D. Bonds (Javon); and one great-granddaughter, Noelle Bonds. She is also survived by two sisters: Georgia Gray (Alan) and Shirlene Wolfolk; three brothers: Joseph Wolfolk, Benjamin Wolfolk, and Johnny Lee Wolfolk (Cheryl); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.
