Celebrating the Life of Joseph Rodney Daise

Joseph Rodney Daise, affectionately known as Rodney, passed away peacefully on November 10, 2024, while enjoying a memorable evening dining with his beloved wife, Mary. Born on September 4, 1951, in Savannah, GA, Rodney was the eldest child of Joseph Daise and Ruth Steele Daise.

Rodney was a man of boundless energy, charm, and athleticism. He shone brightly as a student-athlete at Groves High School and Savannah State College, where his football talent left an indelible mark. Later, he moved to Atlanta, GA, earning an associate's degree in engineering from DeVry Institute of Technology. While there, his love for sports flourished as he became an avid cyclist.

Rodney's adventurous spirit and passion for the open road led him to a career as a long-distance truck operator. He and Mary, his devoted wife, shared a mutual love for travel, exploring the world through international cruises and domestic road trips. From the vibrant Caribbean islands to the serene mountain escapes, they cherished every adventure together.

Deeply rooted in his faith, Rodney was a devoted member of St. Paul Christian Methodist Episcopal Church joining the congregation under the leadership of Reverend Delaney. He found joy serving others through the Food Ministry, helping those in need. As a Free and Accepted Mason, he was a proud Brother of the second oldest Lodge in the state of Georgia, Hilton Lodge #2, where he embraced camaraderie and fellowship in the First Masonic District.

Rodney was the life of every gathering, known for his infectious laughter and ability to bring people together. He lived life to the fullest, leaving behind a legacy of joy and countless treasured memories.

Rodney's family was his greatest pride. He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Mary Daise; his children, Renee (Rodney) Daise Wilson and Joseph Brian (Samara) Daise; and his four grandchildren, Ryan Elise Wilson, Ross Everett Wilson, Joseph Charles Michael Daise, and Kobe Brian Walter Daise, all residing in Atlanta, GA. He is also survived by his sister, Dr. Sandra Daise Adams of West Orange, NJ; his brother, Darrel (Jackie) Daise of Savannah, GA; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who will forever cherish his memory. He is also remembered by Mary's children and their families, who were a part of his life; Twain (NaKia) Newton, Quincey Newton, Amber (Michael) Fields, Luther (Trell) Newton; 21 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

Rodney's laughter, love, and adventurous spirit will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
