Obituary

We celebrate the life and memory of Mrs. Betty Jane Simmons Jackson, who entered eternal rest on Monday, June 23, 2025, at her home in Richmond Hill, Georgia.

Born on September 27, 1950, in Savannah, Georgia, Betty was educated in the Chatham County Public School System and attended both Savannah High School and Sol C. Johnson High School. Dedicated and hardworking, Betty was employed at St. Joseph's/Candler Health System and retired as a Registered Nurse after years of faithful service and care to others.

She was a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., and was deeply grateful for the lifelong sisterhood support of her incredible Sorority Sisters.

In 1972, she was united in holy matrimony to Campbell Whitney Jackson, Sr. Together, they built a life rooted in love and faith. Betty was a devoted member of New Birth Christian Center, where she found joy in fellowship and worship.

She was a loving and proud mother to Adrian, Brian, and the late Campbell W. Jackson, Jr. Her legacy of love and strength continues through her children.

Betty was preceded in death by her siblings: Joseph Simmons and Yvonne Simmons. She is survived by her sisters: Caroline Armstrong and Carolyn Perkins; Mr. and Mrs. James Cagle; and Mr. and Mrs. Larry Haughton.

A special thanks is extended to her four amazing goddaughters, two remarkable young men (fondly known as her "billy friends"), a devoted sister-in-law, and a host of nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family, and cherished friends who brough her joy and comfort throughout her life.

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, July 11, 2025 from 6:00pm-8:30pm at Richmond Hill City Center, 520 Cedar Street, Richmond Hill, GA 31324.

On behalf of the family, "We are asking everyone to bring a covered dish and your favorite Betty story to share."

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Truitt Home Hospice Care and the Parkinson's Foundation.
