Obituary

Anthony "Tony" Hendley Jr. was born on the 9thof December 1986, to Carolyn Hendley and the late Anthony Hendley Sr. He was born and raised in Pin Point, Georgia, and later moved to Chatham Gardens Apartments, where many of his childhood memories began. But Pin Point was always his first home and remained so until he was called home.

At an early age, Tony joined Union Skidaway Baptist Church and was baptized in 1996 by Reverend Willie Ruffin Jr. He was part of a church singing group called the Sons of Thunder. From birth, Tony was a true music soul child.

Tony was educated in the Chatham County Public School System and carried a lifelong passion for music. He was both a gifted lyricist and a skilled music engineer, helping many local artists mix and master their songs. In 2003, he started his first music group with his cousins called IGM, where he began creating memorable hits. He later founded his final music group, DGC, and in 2014 collaborated with his best friend and music partner, Charles Ruley. Together, they created countless hits and videos right up until Tony's last days. Tony's life was a living testimony of love, dedication, and talent. He leaves behind a legacy that will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

On March 24, 2004, Tony met his soulmate, Leighanne Simmons. Together they built a beautiful life and family, raising three cherished daughters: AhNiyah and Aleigha Hendley and Anarasia Watson, whom he loved and cared for as his own. One of his greatest joys was becoming a father to his daughters, whom he adored and loved more than life itself.

Tony was also a dedicated chef at A Taste of Heaven Restaurant, known for his signature "Candy Wings," which were a customer favorite that became his trademark. In his downtime, music was his world, second only to the love he had for his family. Tony's presence was felt wherever he went. He could be both humorous and full of laughter while also being a thoughtful friend and big brother figure to his younger family members. He was a peacemaker and protector of everyone he loved.

Tony was an outstanding, loving, compassionate father, son, grandson, cousin, and friend. This life's journey ended Friday, October 17, 2025. He leaves to cherish his memory: his loving and devoted mother Carolyn Hendley, his soulmate Leighanne Simmons, his loving daughters AhNiyah and Aleigha Hendley and Anarasia Watson, whom he loved and raised as his own, his two sisters Rasheda Coney (Rashad Sr.) and Naisha Hendley, Grandfather Luther McKiver Sr.; nephews and niece Rashad Coney Jr., Rasheed Coney, Raheim Coney, Rasheen Coney, Elijah Jenkins Jr., and Nia Jenkins, Aunts: Sheila McKiver and Linda Owens, Uncles: Eric Hendley (Charlene),  Craig Owens and Jody Martin, Godparents Willie Davis and Johnnie Mae Davis, and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.

Tony's light, laughter, and music will forever echo in the lives he touched.
