Nathaniel M. Harris, Jr.

September 29, 2019

We celebrate the life and memory of Mr. Nathaniel M. Harris, Jr. whose death occurred on Sunday, September 29, 2019 at PruittHealth-Seaside in Port Wentworth, GA.

Nathaniel Maurice Harris, Jr, (62), entered into eternal rest on September 29, 2019 at Pruitt Health - Seaside.  He was born in Savannah, GA  on March 11, 1957 to the late Nathaniel M. Harris, Sr. and Dorothy Logan Harris.  He was the oldest of three children.

He was a member of Bethel A.M.E. Church, and was active and participated in church activities at a very young age.  He ushered, was a member of the Young People’s Department, participated on Youth Sundays and also in Sunday evening programs for Christmas, Easter, and other special occasions.  He was educated in Chatham County public schools.  He attended Alfred Ely Beach High School, where he played the clarinet, marched in the Marching Bulldog Band, and graduated in the Class of 1974.

He began doing electrical work with his father for Harris and Sons Electrical Company.  He then pursued his passion to  drive tractor trailer trucks.  He transported to local as well as inter and out of state locations.  He loved collecting souvenirs from the the states where he had traveled.  He enjoyed hunting, boating, fishing, and crabbing.  He loved social and family gatherings, and also, having good times, where he barbecued and had Low Country Boils.  He also loved music, movies and WW Wrestling.  He was very active and participated in activities at the Rehabilitation home.  He held an office in the tenant association.  To show his patriotism, he recently dressed up as Uncle Sam for the Fourth of July celebration.

He met his first wife, Barbara Williams, and from that union came three daughters and one son.  He met his second wife, Dolly Priester, and from that union came two daughters and two stepdaughters.  Most important of all, he loved his family.  He was blessed to be able to see and spend time with his grandchildren and great-grandchild.  Although he had physical health challenges, he was determined not to let that hinder him.  He obtained a motorized wheel chair to provide him with mobility.  He then sort out transportation services to transport home various homes, restaurants, and other places to meet and spend time with family.  He later became tech savvy and started communicating via social media.  His favorite was Video Chat because he could see and talk at the same time, especially to his new grands.

Nathaniel leaves to cherish his precious memories:  his wife, Dolly Harris, five daughters; LaTaushalyn Bride(Kevin), Alethia Wilson, Heather Jones(Nehemiah), Natalyn and Rachel Harris; two stepdaughters, Virginia and Donnita Priester; one son, Nathaniel M. Harris, III; mother, Dorothy Logan Harris, brother, Darryl L. Harris, Sr, sister, Jocelyn Y. Harris, nephew, Darryl L.
