We celebrate the life and memory of Deacon Inous Lewis, Jr. whose death occurred suddenly while visiting his sister on Wednesday, January 8, 2020.
Inous Lewis, Jr. was born in Millen, GA on January 16, 1939 the son of Mr. and Mrs. Inous and Naomi Harden Lewis, Jr. He attended the public schools of Jenkins County.
Being raised in a Christian home Inous accepted Jesus Christ as his personal savior, joined and was baptized at William Grove Baptist Church.
As a very young man he moved to Savanna, GA to lived with his sister (Mariah) with her influence and acquaintances he was able to find employment shortly after his move here. He was employed by the Savannah Electric and Power Company as a heavy equipment operator and retired after 46 years of service.
Inous he also joined First Mt. Sinai Baptist Church and in later years he moved his membership and joined Brampton Baptist Church where he was ordained a Deacon under the leadership of Rev. T. J. Simmons and served faithfully.
He was preceded in death by his parents, twin son, Ronald Lewis.
On Tuesday, January 8, 2020 Deacon Inous Lewis, Jr. answered to the call of his heavenly father who summoned him to come on home and take his rest.
He leaves behind his wife, Jacqueline Lewis of Savannah, GA, sons, Inous (Vanessa) Lewis, III, Donald Lewis all of West Palm Beach, FL, daughters, Ruthie (Edward) Lewis Dewberry of Savannah, GA, April (Roland) Dunbar of Atlanta, GA, Rosalind Jackson, Sabrina (Craig) Delaney all of Savannah, GA, one sister, Mariah Smalls , one brother, Charlie Lewis both of Savannah, GA, 20 grandchildren, a host of great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 18, 2020 at
Second Arnold Baptist Church
