We celebrate the Life and Memory of Deacon Ben Hamilton, 83, who passed away on December 25, 2019 at Beaufort Memorial Hospital ( Beaufort,SC ) surrounded by his loving family.
Deacon Ben Hamilton, the son of the late Reverend Preston Hamilton Sr. and Constance Jones Hamilton was born April 22, 1936 in Hampton County, South Carolina. Ben received his formal education in the public schools of Hampton and Jasper Counties, and was a School Bus Driver. He later met the love of his life to be in Holy Matrimony, Susie Jane McCall. They cherish seven children.
Ben was employed with the Paper Plant in Varnville SC then he went to work at Westinghouse /International Paper Plant, in Hampton SC. where he retired. Ben was a member of the RockSpring Baptist Church and at a early age he became a Deacon. He was a member of the Antioch Lodge 91 F&AM in Varnville SC. He was Co-Owner of Hamilton Store and Grill, and he also was the Owner of Hamilton Trucking Company.
Ben enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening and raising animals. He also enjoyed watching his kids play sports and interacting with his family. On Wednesday , December 25, 2019, Deacon Ben Hamilton, received a higher calling from God while at the Beaufort Hospital and obediently went to be with his Master. Preceded in his death was his lovely wife Susie Hamilton and son McKenzie Jerome Hamilton, brothers, Preston Hamilton Jr, Billie Hamilton, and Donald Allen.
He leaves to cherish his memories three sons, Mac Arthur Hamilton, Bennie Lee Hamilton of Gillisonville, SC and Rudolph (Cindy) Hamilton of Raleigh NC, three daughters, Constance (Virgil) Cunningham of Winnsboro SC, Mary Ann (Horace) Smith of Beaufort SC, Jo Ann (Carlos) Toomer of Chesapeake VA., 11 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Sisters; Getsie Mae Frazier, Sarah Hazel and Lillie E. Ward of Early Branch, SC. Shirley Nedsmith of Camden New Jersey, Cora (Jimmy) Rizzo of Hilltop, New Jersey; Brothers, Abraham Hamilton and Douglas Hamilton of Elizabeth New Jersey, sisters-in-law, Louise (James) Jenkins of Miami FL, Shirley Smith and Debra J. Moultrie of Gillisonville SC, brothers-in-law , John Stephens and Harry McCall of Gillisonville SC and host of nieces, nephews, cousins , other relatives and friends.
Visitation 6-8 p.m. Sunday, December 29, 2019 at the Church
Funeral 1:00 p.m. Monday, December 30, 2019 at Rock Spring Baptist Church, 6454 Possum Corner Rd., Early Branch, SC . Rev. Henry White, Pastor/ Officiating.
Interment- Rock Spring Cemetery with Masonic Rites.
